Canada is a very large and sparcly populated country located north of the United States. The 1st people that came to Canada arrived there between 15,000 and 30,000 years. The way that they arrived there was by a bridge that joined North America and Asia. In 9,000 A.D. Leiferikson reached the new found land otherwise known as Canada. The settlement didn’t last in the 16th century in Canada. The farmers and fur traders led 4 wars between 1689-1763.Other wise known as the French and Indian war. In 1867 Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick combined into their own government. Also in 1931 Canada became an independent nation. Canada spans from the north to the south and it spans more than half of the northern hemisphere. From east to west it stretches almost 4,700 miles (7,560 kilometers). Canada is the 2nd largest country in the world but it also has a small population which is only ½ percent of the world’s population. Canada’s geography is made up of black and blue lakes and numerous rivers and the western mountains and rolling plains and the central valley’s. The Canadian shield is a hilly region that is just made up of lakes and swamps across northern Canada. Canada has some of the oldest rocks on the earth. Canada’s far north lies in the arctic so there for ice and snow and glaciers take over the landscape. Canada’s remote north and the forest are home to all kinds of wildlife such as bears and rabbits. The country’s lakes and rivers contain about 20% of all the fresh water fish. Canada’s prairies in the south are home to bison and pronghorn antelope also Canada’s evergreen forest are home to moose and black bears. The cold bare tundra of Canada which is further north then the rest is home to caribou and musk ox. Canada also has 41 national parks and 3 marine conservations areas. Also in Canada there wolves, lynx, and Atlantic fish have been over hunted and fished. The British and French immigrant’s descendents make up1/2 of the population in Canada and the 1st nation also makes up 4% of the population in Canada. The natives live on their traditional lands and the others moved to the cities. In Canada the 1st nation’s artwork is widely recognized. The British monarch is the head of state in Canada. Also the monarch is represented by the governor general who has very limited powers. The laws are made and elected by federal government which includes a parliament and a prime minister. The Quebec act in 1774 the Britain’s granted them their own legal and religious rights. Votes were held in 1980-1995. Canada has provided fish and furs since the 1500’s. Today Canada is the world leader in the agriculture production in telecommunications and energy technologies.
